February, 25. Traverse of Aiguilles Rouges (massif of the Mount Blanc)

20170225_0106It was snowing during the week, thus we expected to have some fresh powder. We traversed Aiguilles Rouges (massif of the Mount Blanc, Chamonix) by the route Col de Bérard : Traversée Brévent >> Col de Bérard beautiful “hidden” and wild side of Aiguilles Rouges.

We took ski lift to the top of Brevent (cost 23.50 €). From the top of the Brévent lift (2525m) we left the track just after the breach and cross towards the Col du Brevent and Diosaz. Absolutely fantastic powder! Traverse on the left side of the valley till the lower point – the bridge of Arlevé (1597m). Then follow the left bank of the torrent of Diosaz. Take the Combe de la Balme to the right to reach the Combe de l’Envers de Berard. Сlimb to the pass Col de Bérard (2460m). Several groups went to Col Salenton, but we liked more Col de Bérard. Instate of descending directly from the Col we took of the ski and climbed about 50m towards Aiguilles de Bérard, that is on the left from Col de Bérard. Thus we skied on the fresh untouched powder!

Return in Buet was reasonably good – icy track where you have to take off the ski 2 or 3 times to cross the river. But still, it was ski-able. From Buet we return back to Chamonix by the small panoramic train.

What a trip! The best ski-tour in this season so far.
